Join nationally known weaver Robyn Spady for two workshops about twill weaving structures.
Attend one or both of these workshops!
9 am-Noon: Deciphering the Drawdown – Making sense of Drafting
Few weavers receive instruction in drafting when they initially learn to weave. By understanding how a pattern is developed, a weaver can know why the pattern creates the design it does, reduce dependence on projects, create innovative designs, and understand how to augment the possibilities of a single threading by changing the tie-up, weft, and/or treadling.
Workbook: Deciphering the Drawdown
1-3 pm: Weave Structures: Totally Twill – the Basics
Twills are one of the most versatile weave structures and the possibilities are amazing. The breadth of weaving twills can be a bit daunting, but so much fun! In this workshop, the basics are covered - from straight draw and point twills to broken, undulating, M&W, Dornick, plaited, and turned twills.
Workbook: Twill the Basics
Several looms will be warped up in the Fiber Arts Studio so you can try twill patterns in the week following these workshops.
Skill Level: Intermediate.
There is an $8 fee for workbooks included in the price of class.
