Help design and build woodland or wetland creatures for holiday displays at Bloedel Reserve, the 150-acre forest garden on Bainbridge Island.

In this Community Service project, youth and adults will team up to turn natural materials gathered at Bloedel into sculptures that will be on display from Thanksgiving through the New Year. Each participant will receive a free pass to visit Bloedel during the holiday season to see how the projects were used and enjoy the trails.

Beginners, including adult helpers, are welcome. Participation is free but registration is required.

Everyone will work in teams of two. Teams can be two people ages 14 and above, or a youth age 12-14 and an adult. Parents or guardians can register to work with their youth or ask the BARN Woodworking Studio to recruit the adult team member.

This activity is offered on multiple days, and you can sign up for more than one. The goal is for each team to complete one piece at each session. To sign up for the Oct. 17  session, use the Register link on this web page. For the remaining sessions, click on the dates:

  • Ages 12 and are welcome.  For ages 12-14, register as a team if a parent or other adult will accompany the youth, or as a solo youth if you want BARN to recruit an adult team member. For ages 14+, including adults, please sign up as a team.
