Join us to make a small version of this charming modern pieced quilt. Beginners, experienced quilters, and everyone in between are welcome! If you’re new to quilting, you’ll learn basic quilting including two piecing techniques, preparing the quilt sandwich, and finishing. Experienced quilters will enjoy the clever piecing.
The pattern makes 6 birds. So we can complete a quilt in the time available, however, we’ve reduced the project to 3 birds, resulting in a 32” x 36” quilt that you can use for a wall hanging or a lap or crib quilt, or whatever you like.
This pattern can be “scrappy," (you can make it with leftovers from other projects) and it’s very “fat-quarter-friendly,” (for many of the various colors you need only 18”x22,” a “fat quarter,” of fabric).
You will be able to work on the quilt during the class sessions and on your own in the Fiber Arts Studio or at home. Class sessions are spread out over several weeks so that you have time to work on your own if needed—quicker quilters may be able to complete the quilt during the class sessions without working outside class.
The session on November 20 will be an optional work session. You’re welcome to come to the session if you need support or want the camaraderie. The first class session will include more details about the schedule.

Kelly MacDonald is an enthusiastic Bainbridge Island quilter who has recently become active in BARN’s Fiber Studio.
