Teen Night @ BARN

  • Friday, December 10, 2021
  • 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
  • BARN 8890 Three Tree Lane NE, Bainbridge Island, WA

Teens, come on down to BARN for an evening of games, friends, music, and creativity!  You'll get to choose from activities like cooking, woodworking, sewing, jewelry-making, metal-working, and more - every month is a different lineup. You can also just hang out and chill or work on your own projects.  Bring a friend or come on your own and meet new friends!

This month our event is winter themed, with projects you can make to give as gifts this holiday season!  It will be based indoors, so all participants will be required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 per BARN's current covid safety protocols. We are not asking to see vaccination cards, but will require each person to verbally verify at the door that they have been vaccinated. All will be required to wear masks throughout the evening, except while eating at a distance from others... did we mention free pizza is provided?!!  You bet it is.

No registration is required, but teens will be asked to sign in and out and provide a parent phone number and email address upon arrival.

Activities this month will include cookie decorating, woodworking, welding, needle felting, laser cut ornaments, stamped copper rings, and more!  We'll also have a holiday movie going (with popcorn, of course.)

Read on for descriptions of the various workshops:

Stamped Rings:  Make a customized stamped copper or brass adjustable ring. Learn how to file and sand metal and use symbol or letter metal stamps to make your ring unique.

Fiber Arts - Needle felting or Macrame Snowflakes: Use colorful wool and a special needle to create a felted snowman or tree ornament, or knot a macrame snowflake!

Poetry & Art for LGBTQ+ and Allies: Open to all, gay or straight, this safe space lets you play with words and visuals to express your identity. Create hand-bound mini poetry chapbooks to gift your loved ones for the holidays.

Woodworking: Use power tools in BARN's woodshop to create a festive yule log table decoration.  Take it home with an LED candle to light up your holidays.

Laser Cut Ornaments: Learn how to use one of BARN's laser cutters in our Electronic & Technical Arts studio to create a wood ornament to take home.

Welding:  Learn to use BARN's plasma cutter and other tools in our Welding Shop to make an artistic, one-of-a-kind gift out of steel.
