High school students in grades 9 - 12 are invited to create and hang out at BARN on Teen Nights! Come enjoy free food and drink. Play games in the BARN Commons. Explore a Studio project and learn new skills. Bring friends. Meet new friends.
Join us in February for our Valentine's Day edition of Teen Night! We have a great lineup, with more activities than we've ever offered in a single night. Most activities are an hour long or less so you will be able to do at least two different projects over the course of the evening.
Choose your own adventure from the following activities:
Make your own heart Cookie Cutter
Learn to cut and bend sheet metal to make your own heart-shaped cookie cutter out of copper! Bring your cookie cutter to the kitchen at the end of the evening to cut out and bake cookies!
Fancy Valentine Garlands
Drop in anytime throughout the evening to cut and assemble beautiful papers into three-dimensional hanging heart valentines.
They look super fancy, but are simple to Make! Shape these delicious morsels of goodness from melted chocolate and a variety of complementary ingredients.
Make a Fused Glass Ornament or Magnet
For the first time this year, you'll have the chance to play in our Glass Arts studio! Choose from different glass heart shapes to make a fused glass magnet, pocket heart, or ornament.
Needle Felting Fun
Learn how to turn fluffy wool into fun artwork! You will use a small needle felting tool and un-spun wool to create a design on felt. Make your monogram, a Valentine, a Chinese New Year design or whatever you dream up! If you like, turn it into an iron-on patch!
Carve a Fish
Learn basic carving techniques, including push, stop and draw cuts, as you carve a simple, three-dimensional fish from basswood. Master wood carver Jeff Iller will show you how to handle razor-sharp carving knives safely and efficiently as you create the basic shape and add details that bring it to life.
Get suited up to make sparks fly in our welding studio! You will get to use your own creativity to make a design and cut it out of metal.
Beading in the Jewelry Studio
Beading can be therapeutic after a busy week! Drop in our Jewelry Studio and string beads to your heart's content. Make a necklace or bracelet for yourself, or create a necklace to contribute to BARN's community service beading for seniors project.
