Students will explore traditional kiln carving and combine designs as well as gain design inspiration to create from a fresh perspective.

Kiln Carving is a fiber embossing glass process technique. This Advanced Kiln Carving Class will move your glass past a flat surface to create a bas relief. You will learn to create texture, and a sculptural appearance in your piece.

Design Inspiration design boards will be provided. We will discuss and explore a series of design boards to spark your creative design ideas.

This class will take your kiln carved piece in new directions by developing your design with the opportunity of added embellishment additional texture, contours, iridescent glass and color!


Details:

  • Prerequisite - The ability to cut a circle out of sheet glass. Glass Cutting Class for beginners is a good class to take prior to this one. 
  • Materials fee of $60 is included in the tuition.
  • Remember to wear close-toed shoes and long pants in the Glass Studio at all times! This is a strictly enforced safety policy. Thank you.



Instructor Bio:
At heart, Anne Miller is an artist and designer whose chosen mediums include concrete, textiles, clay, paper, metal, encaustic, stained and now fused glass.

Her passion took her on many paths, ceramics and portraiture, and eventually led to a career in graphic and textile design and as a Marimekko retailer, toy and apparel designer.

Combining her talents for design and business, she pursued a career with Herman Miller and Steelcase, that spanned 35 years.

Recently retired, Anne’s degree and passion for art and design has led her to BARN to immerse herself and focus on all forms of art-creating, designing and having a terrific time.
