Our July Glass meeting is a field trip to Dave Berfield's studio, on Bainbridge Island. Though Dave is semi retired, he is graciously meeting with us to share with us his career in large scale glass enameling. Dave's work can be seen as the durable and functional signage for national parks and nature conservancies; juxtaposed to his awe inspiring work facilitating local artists like the late Jacob Lawrence, translating painted images into large scale enameled art for public venues around the country.
Dave's personal work was seen recently in his solo show where you met up close and personal, his family relatives from both past and present. It is a treat that he is opening his studio to us and to share his time explaining the process punctuated with years of experience.
Please know that most of the time will be standing around a work table, there is a stool or two available if necessary. Or feel free to bring your own!
Space is limited to 12, so first come first served. We will meet at Dave's at 7 p.m.
